  The number 72 is often mentioned also in Scripture. According to Bible, Jesus was dead for 72 hours (3 days), which is also the time Jonah spent inside the Great Whale. In Astrology and Astronomy, the Sun is said to be dead between December 21st – 24th and June 21st – 24th every year. These 72-hour-periods called the winter and summer solstice have been celebrated since ancient times with many cultural and religious traditions.   In the language of symbolism the number 72 is in fact the  Face of God  and thus it bears several corollaries and symbols in religions and science.
